“Emaar Economic City develops and operates four berths at King Abdullah Port with a length of 1470 meters

Emaar Economic City today released a report highlighting its key achievements during the second quarter of 2015, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, facilities, the industrial valley, and support services.

The report indicated that by the end of the second quarter of this year, the number of companies contracted in the Industrial Valley had reached 92 national and international firms, and production had begun at 10 factories, while 25 factories are currently under construction, noting that the total area developed in the industrial valley amounted to approximately 3.7 million square meters.

The report highlighted infrastructure construction and completion projects in the areas of roads, electricity, water, sanitation, lighting, and tree planting, as well as efforts to create a suitable environment for residents by providing housing units and the necessary services.

The Emaar report also highlighted the actual completion rates for all of its currently active projects, in addition to outlining the company’s strategic objectives for the current phase and the current status of its infrastructure projects.

The report confirmed that the development and commissioning of four berths at King Abdullah Port have been completed, bringing the operational length of the berths to 1,470 meters, in addition to the ongoing development work within the port, which has reached 86% completion on land-based construction and 99% on marine construction,In addition, dredging and expansion operations are continuing on the southern side of the berth development to accommodate commercial vessels, with a completion rate of 24%, Dredging and development of the bulk cargo berth and the vehicle berth are also continuing, with a completion rate of 36% for both, as well as the continuation of construction work on the Ministry of Transportation’s project to connect the port to the Jeddah-Yanbu Expressway, valued at 123 million riyals, to accommodate traffic to and from the port.

The Emaar report noted that the number of commercial vessels calling at the port during the period exceeded 670, with more than one million TEU handled since operations began, thanks to increased reliance on the port by two shipping companies.
