The National Water Company emphasized the need to register water meters through its digital channels before March 15, 2025, noting that failure to register will result in the suspension of additional services such as submitting requests and reports, up to and including the suspension of water service.

This is part of an initiative to register meters and link them to the national ID or residency of the actual beneficiary, enabling customers to fully benefit from water services and enhancing meter reliability.

It stated that it has mobilized all its official channels to process requests to register water meters, noting that it has dedicated a page on its official website that includes a guide and answers to frequently asked questions about registering water service meters, urging customers who have not certified the water service meters in their properties to take advantage of the grace period, after which additional services will be suspended, and that no requests, services, or complaints from customers will be processed, noting that the final consequence of non-registration is the disconnection of service from the meter until registration and reconnection are completed.

Benefits of Registering Water Meters

The National Water Company explained that meter registration allows the actual beneficiary to request services, track their status through digital channels, and receive bills and text messages related to their meter, as well as view account details, monitor consumption, and receive notifications in case of high usage.

The company noted that registering a water meter safeguards the rights of all parties, whether owners or tenants, and that upon the expiration or termination of a lease for properties with individual meters, the water meter reverts to the owner’s name. However, if the property consists of multiple residential units, the owners must form a homeowners’ association and appoint a representative to register the meter. The company clarified that if there is a group of tenants in a single property with a shared meter, the meter remains registered to the property owner, If the meter is registered in the name of a deceased person, the legal representative of the heirs must register the meter by adding the account and attaching the power of attorney.
