The the Jeddah Provincial Secretariat has issued notices to the owners of dilapidated shops andbuildings at risk of collapse in the vicinity of Al-Qozain Market, in preparation for completing the regulatory procedures and carrying out demolition work, as part of its efforts to protect lives and property and address sites that pose a threat to public safety.
Ibrahim Al-Salmi, Mayor of the Southern Sub-Municipality, explained that the notices granted the owners a statutory grace period of two months from the date of receipt before demolition work begins, and that owners of adjacent buildings were also notified of the planned measures at the site.
He noted that the municipality inspected the sites, and the results of the inspection revealed that their structural condition was unsafe and that their continued existence in their current state posed a threat to public safety, necessitating their inclusion among the sites scheduled for demolition.
The Jeddah Provincial Secretariat affirmed that it will continue to monitor buildings and dilapidated sites and addressing them in accordance with approved regulatory procedures, thereby helping to protect lives and property and enhance the urban landscape.
