Under the guidance and supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Jazan Region and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Strategic Office for Regional Development, the Strategic Office, in collaboration with the Strategic Office for the Development of Al-Baha Region and in coordination with the Support Center for Development Authorities and Strategic Offices, organized a virtual workshop titled “Training Field Supervisors to Verify the Design Guidelines for Saudi Architecture in the Field.”

The workshop aimed to introduce the styles of Saudi architecture in the Jazan region, thereby contributing to achieving a balance between authenticity and modernity, strengthening the presence of local architectural identity in the urban landscape, as well as raising the level of compliance with design guidelines and improving the quality of completed buildings. It also addressed the importance of equipping municipal inspectors with the tools to verify the implementation of Saudi architectural design guidelines on the ground, and raising awareness of the importance of adhering to them during the construction phases, thereby enhancing the quality of design and execution and preserving the region’s architectural characteristics.

The workshop is part of the efforts of the Strategic Office for the Development of the Jazan Region, represented by the Jazan Region Design Studio, to support the development of the region’s urban landscape. These efforts are grounded in local identity, and combines the requirements of urban development with the preservation of the built heritage, thereby contributing to the creation of a higher-quality and more sustainable built environment and enhancing the appeal of the region’s cities and their urban assets.
