Qatar Airways, which is scheduled to start its first operating phase in the Saudi market at the end of this year, is targeting three major cities in the Kingdom, namely Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam
This was revealed by Ali Al Rais, senior vice president of aviation policy, trade and industrial affairs at Qatar Airways and said: It will start operating in Saudi Arabia through a Saudi company that will be registered in the country ahead of schedule.
Al-Rais pointed out that they are currently working on registering the company and taking official approvals in Saudi Arabia in preparation for its announcement to start operating, adding that the Saudi market is important and we will seek to meet the desire of customers and an official in Qatar Airways recently explained that it will work through future expansion plans to cover all regions of Saudi Arabia. He also pointed out that there is a direct line between Qatar Airways and the General Authority for Civil Aviation to hold continuous meetings and take consultations related to this field.
He emphasized that there are a number of tasks that his company intends to carry out after entering Saudi Arabia, and said that ticket prices for Saudi domestic flights will be determined by supply and demand.
It is noteworthy that in December 2012, Gulf Air & Partners and Qatar Airways won two air carrier licenses in Saudi Arabia, and the two winning companies began the final procedures to obtain operating licenses within a period of three to six months, as Qatar Airways presented an advanced offer, through which it focused on providing quality services to passengers in accordance with international standards on domestic and international flights. The two winning companies will begin completing the final procedures for obtaining the necessary licenses to operate.
