Saudi Arabia witnesses 7,000 disputes over “endowments” in a year 45% of which are “commercial real estate”

Saudi courts finalized 7,031 endowment cases during the last Hijri year, registering a 27.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. Commercial real estate accounted for about 45 percent of the total disputed endowments, which were adjudicated by the courts.


According to data released by the Ministry of Justice, Riyadh courts accounted for about 44.3 percent of the total endowment cases during the last Hijri year, amounting to about 3,310 cases, followed by Mecca with 1,428 cases, the Eastern Province with 670 cases, and Medina with 640 cases.

While the number of endowment cases in Qassim region reached 444 cases, followed by Asir region with 186 cases, Hail region with 169 cases, Jazan region with 101 cases, Tabuk region with 97 cases, followed by Northern Borders region with 58 cases.



The number of cases in Najran region amounted to 48, followed by Al-Baha region with 42. While Al-Jouf region recorded the least number of cases in ending endowments during the past year with 38 cases.



The Ministry of Justice revealed that the total rulings issued during the past two years in labor courts amounted to 110 thousand labor rulings, while the total sessions held during the same period amounted to more than 330 thousand sessions.



It indicated that the total number of labor cases closed in less than two weeks during the last Hijri year amounted to about 16,155 cases.
During the past year, 30 percent of cases were closed in one session, while the percentage of cases closed during two sessions reached 40 percent, and the percentage of cases closed during three sessions reached 30 percent. The ministry indicated that the average number of appointments in labor courts and circuits reached 647 sessions per day.


With regard to the duration of amicable settlement procedures before filing labor lawsuits, it is 21 days, and if the amicable settlement does not end within that period, the dispute is submitted by the beneficiary to the labor courts electronically through the electronic justice services portal Najez.



It also finally allowed the parties to the dispute to file claims to the labor courts electronically through the Najez portal, for all types of claims, whether labor claims subject to the labor system, claims of domestic workers and their equivalent, as well as complaints of employers and workers against decisions issued by the General Organization for Social Insurance regarding participation, registration and compensation.
