<His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, launched the development strategy for the Asir region under the slogan “Summits and Shim”, which aims to achieve a comprehensive and unprecedented development renaissance for the region, by pumping 50 billion riyals through various investments to finance vital projects and develop tourist attractions on the majestic Asir peaks; to make Asir a global destination throughout the year, relying on its strengths in culture and nature that combine originality and modernity and contribute to driving social and economic growth in the region.
His Highness announced that Asir's strategy aims to transform the region into a global tourist destination all year round, attracting more than 10 million visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom by 2030, by exploiting the region's enormous tourism potential that will be invested through quality tourism projects to highlight its majestic peaks as well as its geographical and natural diversity, and reveal its cultural and heritage richness.
HRH the Crown Prince stressed that the Asir strategy seeks to attract investments from inside and outside the Kingdom, which in turn will contribute to creating an effective economic movement by activating an integrated system to facilitate procedures and enhance the role of tourism and culture as key drivers of economic development in Asir.
HRH the Crown Prince noted that the implementation of the strategy will contribute by 2030 to creating new job opportunities, in addition to raising the quality of life and upgrading basic services and infrastructure in the region, including communications, health, transportation and other enablers.
