A grace period for foreign engineers before registering as members of the Engineers Authority

The Saudi Council of Engineers has clarified that it does not require the registration of expatriate engineers to the Kingdom before three months - the trial period - after their entry into the Kingdom, indicating that the expatriate who obtains a final exit during the trial period is given a letter addressed to the General Directorate of Passports with the title (no registration with the Commission) stating that he does not require registration with the Commission to issue a final exit visa for him.

Abdulnasser Al-Abdullatif, the Authority's official spokesperson and director of the Public Relations and Media Department, pointed out that the Authority has clarified the procedures it has been doing for a long time, which is based on procedures that apply to the expat engineer since he entered the Kingdom, explaining that the expat engineer only requires registration with the Authority after three months and after it has been confirmed that he is fit for work and his sponsoring organization continues its desire to issue him a residence permit to work in the Kingdom.

He explained that the Authority has been applying these procedures since the implementation of professional accreditation years ago, and has applied them to a number of engineers in the engineering sectors, such as engineering and consulting companies and offices and some contracting companies operating in the Kingdom

He added that after 3 months after the expatriate engineer enters the Kingdom, he is then registered in the Authority, and issues a work and residence permit from the passports after registering him in the Authority electronically, then comes the process of examining his certificates and experience and applying professional accreditation for engineers on him.
