Jeddah has witnessed a tidal wave of complaints about high rents for shops and apartments in a large number of neighborhoods in the city, which prompted the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by the main commercial committee, to conduct a comprehensive study on regulating the relationship between the owner and the tenant, with the aim of benefiting from the national program to regulate the rental sector launched by the Ministry of Housing by providing solutions to serve the rental housing sector and preserve the rights of all parties.
The head of the main commercial committee at the Jeddah Chamber, Nashwa bint Abdul Hadi Taher, confirmed that a meeting will take place in the coming period with the main real estate committee in order to search for solutions to the phenomenon of high rents that some complain about and to settle on a clear mechanism and a strict system governing the relationship between the owner and the tenant, until everyone reaches to determine the rental value of real estate in line with the real and market values of the property and suits the amount of consumption that the site has been subjected to, provided that the contract value is limited to a certain number of years, and takes into account the renewal and fluctuation of economic conditions.

On the other hand, the Jeddah Chamber Pharmacies Committee discussed a number of challenges facing the sector, and decided to arrange a visit to His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Health and Jeddah Governor Dr. Hani Abu Ras to discuss giving permits for sites without deeds and signage fees, and recommended the addition of Brigadier General Aida Al-Thubaiti, Engineer Yasser Jawharji and Mufarm Al-Shehri to its membership.

In its last meeting, the committee expressed its deep thanks to His Excellency the Director General of Customs Saleh bin Muneea Al-Khaliliwi for the many measures he took in the past period to facilitate work at Jeddah Islamic Port, which contributed significantly to removing some of the obstacles facing traders, and appreciated the prominent role of the Food and Drug Authority for its fruitful cooperation in the coming period.
The committee also recommended the addition of Brigadier Eidah Al-Thubaiti, Engineer Yasser Jawharji and Mufarm Al-Shehri to its membership in the committee. The Engineering Offices Committee, chaired by Hussein bin Saeed bin Hussein Al Mushait, recommended holding its sectoral meeting at the end of next August, discussed the latest developments related to engineering works, evaluated the workshop on mechanisms for preserving and employing urban heritage and conducted a field study on the developments of the Saudization rate in engineering offices and the measures taken to localize jobs in the past period.
The committee also recommended the holding of the sectoral meeting at the end of the month of August.
