<The Vertical Village residential project in Singapore has been named the 2015 Residential Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival. The project has been recognized as “one of the most ambitious residential projects in Singapore's history” for adopting a radically different approach to modern living in a tropical environment.

The building consists of 31 residential buildings, each with six floors stacked together in beehive-like hexagons to create a mix of shared and private indoor and outdoor spaces, while each residential building is 70 meters long, distributed in a beehive shape across multiple levels in eight large courtyards that allow light and ventilation to all building facades.

The project includes many facilities that encourage shared social life, including outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, rooftop gardens, recreational halls for games, sports, karaoke, and bookstores.

A one-kilometer jogging track surrounds the residential buildings, which residents can access through internal courtyards.

The 170,000-square-meter residential complex was completed in 2003 and was selected by the World Architecture Festival jury for adopting a new approach to contemporary social life in a tropical environment.
