Transportation and the vital role
The Kingdom's transportation sector plays a vital role in supporting the national economy and forming the necessary infrastructure for sustainable development in all fields. Huge investments over the past four decades have led to the development of the transportation infrastructure and the creation of a modern network of air, land and sea transportation systems, characterized by effectiveness and efficiency and linking the Kingdom's sprawling regions with different characteristics and features. The size of the budget of the Ministry of Transport for this year 1434H/1435H reflects the attention and care of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - may God protect him - as SR 11,050,000,000 has been allocated to implement 223 new projects of main, secondary and secondary roads with a total length of (3708) kilometers in addition to the study and design of 1523 kilometers of roads in various regions that have been put forward for public competition.

King Abdullah Project
In the field of land and maritime transportation, the Ministry issued more than 142,000 licenses to practice its various activities, in addition to issuing many decisions that support the development of transportation within the Kingdom, the most important of which is the decision of the Council of Ministers to implement the public transport network in Riyadh within four years, consisting of trains, express buses and regular buses, and the King Abdullah Public Transport Project in Riyadh consists of an integrated transportation system that includes 6 trains for electric tracks, 4 tracks for express buses and many buses fed from neighborhoods to public transport stops. The electric train network “Metro” includes 6 tracks with a total length of (176) kilometers and 85 stations and a multi-level network of buses that includes 24 tracks with a total length of 1,083 kilometers and 776 stations, and the tracks of the Riyadh Metro project consist of the first track “Al-Olaya - Al-Batha axis”, the second track “King Abdullah Road axis, the length of the track is 25.3 kilometers”, the third track “Medina Road Axis - Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman I Road with a length of 40.7 kilometers”, the fourth track “King Khalid International Airport Road Axis with a length of 29.6 kilometers”, the fifth track “King Abdulaziz Road Axis with a length of 12.9 kilometers”, and the sixth track “Abdulrahman bin Ouf Road Axis - Sheikh Hassan bin Hussein bin Ali Road with a length of 30 kilometers”...

Railways
The Kingdom has the latest roads and trains according to the highest international specifications and the railway sector has witnessed a golden age during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, and is represented in the implementation of several expansion projects with a total length of (4350) kilometers: “North-South Line Project (Saudi Railways Company (SAR) project, which has a total length of 2750 kilometers and is implemented in two parts, the first - the railway line connecting mineral production areas (phosphate and bauxite) in the north of the Kingdom to the manufacturing and export area in the port of Ras Al Khair. The second part, which is being implemented, starts from the Jordanian border and passes through the regions of Al-Jawf, Hail and Al-Qassim to Riyadh, and the Haramain high-speed passenger train project, which has a length of (450) kilometers and connects Mecca, Medina and Jeddah and is being implemented in all its phases according to the program prepared for it, represented by the infrastructure of the project route, where the Mecca station is located in the Rusifa area and is bounded to the north by the Mecca-Jeddah highway and west by the third ring road, which is the starting point of the project and has an area of 484 square meters.952 square meters, while the Jeddah station is located in the Sulaymaniyah area, bordered by the east by the Makkah-Jeddah Highway (Haramain Road) and the south by King Abdullah Road, with an area of 454,512 square meters, and the number of bridges in the Makkah area is about 104 bridges, with a total length of 31,500 meters. The route starts from Makkah on a 1,600-meter-long suspension bridge and continues to intersect with the Makkah-Jeddah highway, proceeds on a 170-meter-long bridge, and continues to the city of Bahra, consisting of several bridges, and enters the city of Jeddah on a 700-meter-long suspension bridge that crosses over the Haramain Road to carry the train to the west to enter Jeddah station and exit it on Both stations contain, in addition to the main building, an arrival and departure hall, a mosque with a capacity of 1000 worshippers, a civil defense center, a helicopter landing pad, platforms for parking trains and waiting for passengers, short and long term parking, VIP lounges, shops, restaurants and cafes.
The Land Bridge
The projects of the railway sector include the 1150-kilometer-long land bridge project linking the west of the Kingdom on the Red Sea coast to the east on the Arabian Gulf coast through the existing network between Riyadh and Dammam, for which design, technical and financial studies are currently being prepared, and these projects will contribute after their completion - God willing - to the transportation of containers to the local market and the neighboring Gulf markets, in addition to the activity of passenger transportation between Riyadh and Jeddah, and the GCC train that links the Gulf countries with a network of railways.
