The College of Architecture and Planning at King Saud University launched the Prince Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf Award for Humanizing Cities on Sunday. The award aims to encourage academic researchers and motivate undergraduate and graduate students to carry out scientific research and create designs and plans that address the humanization of cities, their residential neighborhoods or their public urban spaces.

The award also targets projects that address the humanization of cities. <The award also targets research projects and studies on urban policies and their implications on the humanization of the city of Riyadh and Saudi cities and the stages of their development, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The award follows Prince Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf's initiative to establish an award in the field of humanization of cities, the approval of King Saud University, represented by the College of Architecture and Planning, to embrace it, and the formation of a council headed by His Highness the founder of the award.

The award will honor research works published or accepted for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals that deal with the humanization of Saudi cities, as well as research projects for graduate students and design and planning innovations for undergraduate students at Saudi universities.

Participating projects are required. Participating projects are required to focus on research areas and projects that discuss the humanization of cities and study decisions and initiatives that develop the Saudi city and transform it from a space dominated by mechanisms to a space that responds to human needs, achieves the satisfaction of its users and raises the level of quality of life in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

<The award includes four branches. The first: Scientific Research Award in Humanizing Cities, which targets the original research contributions of scientists and researchers in the fields of humanizing cities, while the second branch: Postgraduate Students Award, which targets the research projects of postgraduate students at Saudi universities.

The third branch includes the research projects of male and female graduate students. <The third branch includes: Undergraduate Student Award, which aims to encourage students of the faculties of architecture and planning or related departments in the Kingdom's universities to adopt the concept of humanizing cities in the practical projects that they plan or design during their undergraduate studies.
